The post holder will be undertaking an apprenticeship programme within the Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust (LTHT). The training will be delivered through formal education delivered by the School of Dental Technology situated within LTHT, in collaboration with University of Greater Manchester.
As part of your training, you will be expected to travel to the University of Greater Manchester one day per week, departing Leeds Dental Institute at 7:30am and leaving the University at 4:30pm and transport is provided for this.
You will also go on work placement at commercial dental laboratories to gain wider, work-based learning experience in your third year.
On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a FdSc Foundation Degree Dental Technology, which will enable you to apply as a Dental Care Professional with the General Dental Council (GDC).
You will gain practical knowledge, skills and experience through Laboratory placements where they will be involved in providing indirect care for patients in support of and supervised by a registered Dental Technician.
As an Apprentice Dental Technician, the post holder will construct and provide routine dental devices, working under supervision within Dental Laboratory procedures and guidelines to support the delivery of a high standard of service to patients, staff and Trust departments.
It is expected that the apprentice will commit to self-directed study and successfully complete the training programme within the contract period.
