To gain all the skills, knowledge, experience and confidence necessary to become a Cut & Crease Machine Operator; and be able to operate as part of an integrated crew on a machine.
Key Objectives:
· To develop individual skills, both on a technical, practical and interpersonal basis.
· To provide a continual and effective service within the department, fulfilling key tasks as required.
· To maintain good housekeeping in the area, whilst working to specific maintenance schedules and work practices within the department.
· To work effectively and efficiently as part of a cohesive team.
· To successfully complete all parts of the Advanced Apprenticeship.
· To adhere and encourage Lean principles within the Department.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Development
- Optimise opportunities to learn and extend technical skills and knowledge to the level of Cut Crease Operator at all times, under the direction of trained/qualified Operators and Managers.
- Collate and present evidence of tasks carried out for NVQ training portfolio (the NVQ will be achieved in-house).
- Maintain regular contact with trainers, assessors/observers and Managers in respect of overall development progress, through regular meetings and on the job support mechanisms.
Working Practices
- Ensure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures within the specific work area to satisfy both company and customer requirements – including ISO quality, hygiene, health & safety and environmental standards.
- Adhere to and encourage Lean principles within the Department.
- Assist in organising the workplace to achieve high standards of housekeeping, and report any defects, hazards and/or issues to the relevant personnel immediately.
- Carry out specific tasks and duties as directed, in accordance with learning programme, current skills level and targets agreed.
Production
Work with a number of crews to gain experience in all aspects of cutting and creasing operations:
- Introduction to forme making
- Preparing the machines
- Full make ready
- Diagnosing and rectifying running faults
- Maintaining all documentation
Understand, and be able to arrange and provide effective and timely supply of all consumables to the area as required to meet the production plan (including board, cutting formes, rubbers etc).
Monitor production and carry out removal of all waste materials to correct locations away from the cutting/creasing area.
Maintain a flexible attitude towards production requirements, to meet Company objectives and targets.
Interact effectively with crew member, assisting as directed in other tasks as required, and learning the skills required to lead a team.
This Job Framework is not exhaustive and the jobholder is expected to carry out other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate to the role of an Apprentice Cut & Crease Operator or appropriate to any other employee at similar level within the Company.
At least 5 GCSEs in grade 4 or above, including English, Maths and at least one Science required.
