As a Software Development Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in programming like RPG, Go, and JavaScript, using a range of modern development tools to contribute to real-world projects across our RPG and Digital Development Teams. This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills in software development, exposing you to robust, business-critical systems as well as cutting-edge technologies and agile practices. By mastering programming languages and methodologies, you will build a strong foundation for a successful career in software engineering.
As part of the apprenticeship, you will complete a 24-month Level 4 Apprenticeship in Software Development, gaining an industry-recognised qualification while developing real-world coding skills.

Job Overview
- Develop on the job working and learning alongside an experienced IT team, playing an active part in the whole buying process
- Develop proficiency in your chosen language and understand how your role contributes to the business's success.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues by building strong relationships with colleagues across different business functions.
- Gain an understanding of the retail lifecycle and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Provide first-line support in your designated area, responding to customer queries efficiently.
Minimum Criteria To Apply
- At least 18 years of age
- Due to government guidelines, you must have lived in the UK or EU/EEA for the last 3 years.
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT or GCSE grade C or equivalent. In the absence of such qualification an initial functional skills assessment will be completed prior to apprenticeship enrolment in order to assess skill level. Functional skills learning will then be planned into the apprenticeship programme.
- Cannot have previously achieved a qualification in or relating to Software Development at degree level.
- A keen interest in software programming, such as through hobbies like building websites.
- Methodical and logical approach to dealing with and presenting work
- Analytical and able to problem solve
- Ability to work with cross functional teams
- Organised and able to prioritise action
Package
- £26,000 per annum
- Based at our Liverpool Head Office
- 28 days paid holiday per annum, rising to 33 days upon 5 years’ service (inclusive of bank holidays)
