We are recruiting an multiple Apprentice Vehicle Accident Repair Technicians.
We are looking for a Paint, Panel and MET apprentice.
This Apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to work in a modern Bodyshop-type environment, working on a broad range of vehicles to develop a level of skill in all craft aspects of vehicle accident repair, including Mechanical, Electrical & Trim; Panel Repair & Replacement; Preparation and Paint.
A Vehicle Accident Repair Technician repairs all elements of a vehicle after it has sustained some type of collision damage. These range from small damage through to heavily impacted types of damage. The Accident Repair Technician works in a modern highly technical workshop-type environment, working on a broad range of vehicles from cars and car derived vans to light commercial vehicles.
- Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) - Candidates will learn strip and refit processes of all main vehicle systems: including air conditioning, vehicle alignment and Hybrid & Electric vehicle systems
- Panel Repair & Replacement - Candidates will learn to repair bodywork by replacing panels, filling defects and carrying out techniques such as welding, bond and riveting and correcting misalignment.
- Paint-surface Repair - Candidates will learn how to prepare surfaces and carry out paint refinishing through the following techniques; sealing, masking, priming, application of base coat & lacquer, repairing defects and polishing.
An Accident Repair technician:
- Is able to interpret and work accurately to repair specifications.
- Has the ability to work in a focused, analytical and methodical way, completing repairs on time, every time with a right-first-time, customer focused culture under-pinning all their activities.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and complies with manufacturer and British Standard industry guidelines.
- Check the condition and ensure the correct maintenance of tools, equipment and other materials.
- Embraces the need to put complete customer satisfaction, as well as commercial awareness, at the centre of everything they do.
- Ensures all health and safety policies are adhered to.
- Undertake all other tasks and activities as requested by the Bodyshop Manager.
- Has effective communication throughout the repair process, both with clients and with other members of the team.
- Displays a good attitude, a positive approach to learning & development and a high level of ambition.
All apprentices are trained through their apprenticeship to achieve these levels of performance and activity.
Qualifications:
- GCSE or equivalent English 4 (Equivalent to a C) (Desired)
- GCSE or equivalent Maths 4 (Equivalent to a C) (Desired)
Desired skills:
Communication skills, IT skills, Team working, Attention to detail, Proactive, Initiative, Manual Skills, Driving License (advantageous)
Training:
To be confirmed. Training will be provided by a government approved provider. Training delivery will be delivered using block release, day release or assessor site visits.
- Block release delivery, learner spends circa five weeks at site and then every sixth week on a residential course at training provider premises.
- Day release delivery, learner spends one day per week at training provider premises.
- Assessor visit delivery, learner carries out majority of learning at place of work, supported by online tuition, assessor visits to site and occasional days at training provider premises.
Future progression: To become a fully qualified Accident Repair Technician and secure a full-time role as permanent member of the team
