Keeping people and information safe.
Solving unique problems.
Broadening your horizons.
It all matters.
Learn what it takes to keep our people safe around the world.
From day one of this exceptional apprenticeship scheme, you’ll be involved in the most fascinating projects, all with the primary focus of keeping people safe in a range of government buildings. What this means for you is the chance to combine practical hands-on experience with studies that will culminate in a degree in Building Services Design Engineering. Across a period of 72-months, you’ll help us design and maintain the most secure buildings, seeing to it that they’re not just fit for purpose – they’re sector-leading. We’ll teach you design techniques, the art of technical drawing, and how to plan works. Energy conservation and sustainable development will be covered too, so there’s lots to learn and plenty to refine.
Our work takes us around the world, so there will be scope for you to travel too. Regardless of where you are, you could be involved in projects such as designing building services for brand-new premises that are highly secure. Or we might task you with maintaining historic 18th Century embassies that are perfectly suited for their occupants.
From theory to law, explore every aspect of building service design engineering.
The aim of this apprenticeship is to help the next generation of Building Service Design Engineers develop and hone their expertise. So at the end of the programme, we’re hopeful that you’ll choose to stay with us in a permanent capacity. If it sounds like the type of career you’d love to pursue and you’re happy to travel overseas, then you’ll need to be a British citizen, and you’ll be at least 16-years old – though there’s no limit to the age groups we’ll consider. Good numeracy, communication and IT literacy skills are important, and you’ll be both reliable and easy to work with.
With at least five GCSEs (or equivalent) graded 9-4 (A*-C) in subjects including Maths and English, you’ll also have an A-Level in Maths and at least two other subjects (minimum grades BBC) though Chemistry or Physics would be ideal. Alternatively, you’ll have completed relevant studies such as a BTEC National Diploma DDM, Access to Engineering qualification, Level 3 qualifications worth 128 UCAS points, a Level 3 apprenticeship as a Building Services Design Technician or T-level (Merit or above) in Construction: Design, Surveying And Planning.
