Role Title: Health, Safety and Environment Apprentice
Contract: 18-month fixed term contract
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5pm
Salary: £14,722.50 per annum

About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Health, Safety and Energy department as an Apprentice at Oakham School. Your role as a Safety, Health and Environment Apprentice will be to support the Health, Safety and Energy Manager in the general management of Health and Safety across a large educational site to ensure compliance with statutory legislation.
We are looking for someone who is keen to learn about Health and Safety and wants to develop and build a foundation level of knowledge about the legal, moral and financial reasons behind it.
The ability to communicate clearly both orally and written is essential to the post.
The role will be split between the office environment updating databases and report writing to more practical aspects such as inspections and creation of Risk Assessments across a variety of academic and support areas. You will be genuinely contributing to the safety culture within the school whilst furthering your education by gaining a Level 3 Safety, Health & Environmental apprenticeship standard.
About the Apprenticeship
This is an opportunity to earn whilst you learn, having 1 day per week outside of your working routine to study for your qualification.
You will study Level 3 Safety, Health & Environmental apprenticeship standard through RHG Consult. The school will arrange Student Membership to the Institution of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH) and will work with you to develop your Continuous Professional Development (CPD), enabling you to achieve Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at TechIOSH level status upon completion of your course.
The apprenticeship end point assessment will include a knowledge exam, work project report, presentation and professional discission.
Please note that to be eligible for the apprenticeship, candidates cannot already hold an NESBOSH General Certificate.
