Job Purpose:

To complete an Engineering Technician Apprenticeship within the Engineering department for Lucy Electric EMS based in Thame.

To complete a departmental rotation scheme to gain understanding of the business structure and goals and how Engineering sits and interacts within this framework.

Lucy Electric is an international leader in intelligent secondary power distribution products and solutions, with features such as remote operation and monitoring. Linking energy generation to consumption, the business specialises in high-performance medium and low-voltage switchgear for utility, industrial and commercial applications.

Job Context:

To become conversant in Engineering practice within the company, including Prototype assembly (electrical / mechanical) Prototype test (electrical / mechanical) Engineering drawing and design, Engineering reports. This will be achieved by completing 4 days per week in-house training, Company rotation and training plan, and 1 day per week college day release

Job Dimensions:

Geographical scope Engineering department Thame, Site rotation Thame, Offsite training college Bicester and possible overseas travel

Working with all areas of the UK Engineering team

Conducting High Voltage electrical testing in compliance with IEC standards and Health and safety legislation

Use variety of hand tools and measuring equipment

Use of machine tools including lathe, mill and grinders

Working on Microsoft Word and Excel to produce Engineering reports and documentation

Using CAD to produce Engineering drawings

Working to all COSHH and PPE regulations
