Job description: Fabricator/Welder Apprenticeship
Location: Paneltex, Hull
Reporting to: Fabrication/Welding Supervisor
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 17:00 Friday 08:00 – 14:00
Salary: £7.55 per hour (subject to increase with service length)
Other Benefits: Equivalent of 32 days annual leave (inclusive of Bank Holidays) & Contributory pension scheme and Life Assurance cover

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work safely at all times, comply with health & safety legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
- Comply with environmental legislation, regulations and organisational requirements.
- Use appropriate documentation and carry out required checks using the correct procedures and equipment.
- Deal promptly and effectively with problems using approved diagnostic methods and techniques and report those which cannot be resolved to the appropriate personnel.
- Identify and follow correct Metal work instructions, specifications, drawing etc.
- Mark out using appropriate tools and techniques and cut and form Metal for the production or maintenance of fabricated products.
- Produce and assemble Metal products to required specification and quality requirements.
- Identify and follow correct joining instructions, specifications, drawing etc.
- Set up, check, adjust and use joining and related equipment.
- Weld joints in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Interest in mechanical engineering and welding.
- Self-motivated, confident, friendly and engaging personality.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being capable of working independently when necessary.

- GCSE or equivalent Maths and English (Grade 5 or above) Essential

The Apprenticeship (Metal fabricator - Level 3)
This apprenticeship at Paneltex will offer you a unique opportunity to gain practical experience while working alongside industry experts while you gain an Metal fabricator (level 3) qualification. The apprenticeship programme will typically run for 42 months and will provide you with valuable on-the-job training, supplemented by theoretical learning to enhance your skills and knowledge by spending a short amount of time away from the workplace at college.
Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be supported by a dedicated mentor who will guide you in your professional development and assist you in achieving your career goals.
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have the opportunity to be considered for a permanent role within Paneltex, subject to business requirements and your performance during the programme.
