Reporting to the Marketing Manager at the New Theatre Royal, this Marketing Assistant Apprentice role will include assisting with the promotion of the organisation, whilst studying for a Multi-Level Marketing L3 Apprenticeship. This role is ideal for a creative and focused individual with a passion for the arts who is looking to grow their skills in all areas of marketing. Training will be given in any areas necessary so a fast learner and someone who can take initiative is ideal. The Marketing Apprentice will be a part of a small and dedicated team and will play a key role in the marketing delivery for the organisation. The apprentice will be joining the theatre at a time of rapid growth and will therefore become a vital part of maintaining brand visibility alongside marketing for events.
Key responsibilities
- Campaign creation and support, coordinating with internal teams and external promoters.
- Tracking and reporting on the progress and performance of marketing activities.
- Liaising with promoters and external agencies to create campaign timelines for their events and offering extra support and creative ideas where necessary.
- Liaising with partners and stakeholders.
- Monitoring and upkeep of a busy content schedule.
- Social media management using Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok. Creating and scheduling content, managing the platforms to track campaigns and respond to customers.
- Creating and scheduling emails using MailChimp.
- Assisting with creation of marketing materials such as posters and flyers.
- Liaising with vendors to book in external campaigns (eg external poster sites).
- Writing copy for the website, emails, social media and promotional materials.
- Proofreading material supplied by promoters and the wider team.
- Supporting initiatives to retain customers and members as well as win new ones.
- Using New Theatre Royal’s ticketing system to segment email lists and securely assess customer data.
- Gathering and analysing data to inform future campaigns.
- Adding and managing website events using Wordpress.
- Using Google Forms to send surveys and analyse results.
- Attending events to speak to young people about your experiences as an apprentice to inspire future generations

Working Week: Monday-Friday. 10am – 4:30pm including a 30-minute break. 30 hours per per consisting of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday in the office. Tuesday will be a college or study day. The apprentice is not required to be in the office on a Tuesday but is welcome to use the office during working hours as a study space to complete any coursework if they are not in college.
Salary: £11,778 per annum Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage applies with the starting salary for ages 20 and under and reverts to the National Living Wage for anyone over 21 years. Please see further information below.
Qualifications: GCSE Math and English minimum grade 4 required to apply for this apprenticeship.

Things to Consider:
- Consider the nature of the industry. Occasionally the candidate may be required to be flexible and work outside of the stated working hours (eg evenings and weekends).
- There is no free parking on site, but the theatre is excellently placed for public transport (trains and buses).
- The apprentice will be joining the theatre at a time of rapid growth and will therefore become a vital part of maintaining brand visibility alongside marketing for events.
- The candidate may be required to work outside of their working hours for example to attend events in the evening or on weekends.
- The apprentice will be required to support the wider team including the CEO, Ticketing and Sales, Programming and Operations.
- This is an 18-month apprenticeship and applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it and have the minimum qualification level to apply for it
- The successful applicant will be recruited immediately although the apprenticeship learning will not begin until October 2025.
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK.
- Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer.
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study.
- Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship.
Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour (As of the 1st April 2025). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16 to 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
