Join our dynamic and forward-thinking team at HMS as an Apprentice Plasterer, where you will gain practical experience and develop valuable skills, working towards an NVQ Level 2 qualification. This is a 24-month apprenticeship. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to their assigned college or workplace as required.

What Will You Be Doing?
-
Learn to carry out a wide range of internal and external plastering tasks, including full and patch plastering, dry lining, skimming, rendering, and damp-proof plastering.

Train in the correct use of tools, equipment, and materials while working safely and efficiently.

Develop planning and organisational skills to complete tasks within company deadlines and standards.

Work within a scheduled appointment system and liaise with customers and colleagues.

Gain experience in diagnostic and measuring work to assess job requirements.

Use IT systems for communication, work orders, and material management.

Learn to make informed repair decisions within contract limits and manage customer expectations when delays occur.

Complete all required documentation accurately and consistently.

Participate in training, development, and the company’s competency programme.

Manage vehicle stock effectively, aiming to reduce waste and ensure availability.

Follow all health and safety guidelines, reporting any issues promptly.

Collaborate with other teams and contractors to ensure work is completed efficiently.

Meet all quality, customer care, and performance standards.

Attend college and complete all assessments needed to successfully achieve the apprenticeship.

Support wider team activities and carry out additional duties as directed.
What We’re Looking For:

Applicants must have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades 2–3 (D–F), including Maths and English, or a Level 1 vocational qualification plus GCSEs at grade 3/D or above in both Maths and English. English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1 will also be accepted as an alternative to GCSEs. Please note: All potential apprentices will be asked to complete an online Functional Skills assessment, regardless of previous qualifications. For apprentices aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship, English and Maths qualifications are no longer mandatory in England. However, a basic assessment will still be required to ensure suitability for the course.

Assessment Day
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day to further evaluate their skills and suitability for the apprenticeship. Assessment days will take place during the week commencing 9th July 2025.
College or Training Organisation
All our apprentices are enrolled in a local college in Liverpool, Warrington, or St Helens. Due to capacity limits, placements may be assigned to any of these colleges.
Your Training Plan
You will receive both on-the-job and off-the-job training over the course of 24 months, following a detailed induction and training plan. You will attend college on a day-release basis. Upon successful completion, you will earn the Level 2 Qualification in Plastering.
During Your Apprenticeship
You will work across our three main vibrant heartlands – Liverpool, Warrington, and St Helens and surrounding areas, where you’ll rotate through a variety of dynamic workstreams, gaining hands-on experience and building a broad foundation of knowledge along the way.
