We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Network Technician; the successful applicant will primarily work from our Milnthorpe Road campus but also support our Arts and Media Campus and Westmorland Campus.
We are looking for a problem solver and a trouble-shooter with a keen ability to explain IT and technical concepts to users of varying skill levels and a confident user of Microsoft Office packages. This role will require initiative to solve queries, as well as a willingness to escalate complex problems to senior colleagues to ensure issues are resolved promptly.
They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team, and professional services that share the common goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.
They will possess excellent organisational and time-management skills, enabling them to prioritise work effectively and meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their work schedule to achieve objectives, possess strong IT skills, and be happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared goals.
As an apprentice at Kendal College within the IT Network Team, you will grow within the department and work towards becoming a valued asset to both staff and students by providing first-line support and fault diagnosis. You will also assist the team in resolving technical issues and setting up IT and media equipment when required.
Senior colleagues within the department will mentor you on a day-to-day basis and help you develop your skills in network principles, Windows servers, Office 365, backup solutions and more. In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to attend relevant internal and external staff development activities and then encouraged to apply your knowledge within your duties.
We will support you to complete a Level 3 IT Network Technician apprenticeship. This work-based training program will equip you with the skills and knowledge to excel in IT support roles, particularly those focused on networking and infrastructure. These apprenticeships will be 18 months in duration and involve a combination of on-the-job learning and off-the-job training.
- Focus: Networking and IT infrastructure
-
Skills Developed: Network configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, cybersecurity, and communication
-
Work-Based Learning: Apprentices learn practical skills in a real-world IT environment
-
End-Point Assessment: The apprenticeship is assessed through an end-point assessment, which evaluates the apprentice's knowledge and skills
-
Duration: 18 months, plus end point assessment (generally 4 months)
