As a Fleet Operations Apprentice at JCDecaux UK, you will play an active role in managing and improving our national fleet operations. Working alongside senior team members, you will ensure the fleet operates efficiently, vehicles are maintained, and compliance standards are met. You will contribute to key aspects of fleet management, including vehicle maintenance, data management, process improvement, and budgeting. Over time, you’ll gain valuable experience in the core areas of fleet operations while managing specific operational processes.
What you'll be doing...

Oversee the scheduling and maintenance of fleet vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition and downtime is minimised.

Manage and update the fleet management system, ensuring accurate data entry for vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, and operational performance.

Monitor fuel expenditures and track usage across the fleet, ensuring fuel purchases are optimised.

Take responsibility for managing vehicle records, including registration, inspections, and maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Support the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, contributing to budget management and cost-saving initiatives.

Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of fleet-related processes, identifying areas for improvement and working to streamline operations.

Ensure compliance with DVLA and other regulatory requirements, including managing documentation and certifications for vehicles and drivers.

Help prepare for fleet audits and inspections, ensuring all required documents and records are ready and up to date.

Work with the Health, Safety, and Environmental teams to ensure fleet operations comply with safety and environmental standards.

Stay informed of industry trends and identify opportunities for future fleet requirements, contributing to long-term fleet strategy.

Assist in managing relationships with suppliers and vendors, ensuring fleet-related services meet quality and performance standards.

Take on a hands-on role in coordinating fleet operations for special events, ensuring logistics and fleet needs are carefully planned and executed.

Participate in workshops and training programs to expand your knowledge and expertise in fleet management best practices and regulations.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
-
A keen interest in fleet operations, logistics, or related fields.

Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage tasks independently.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.

A valid UK driving licence and the ability to drive both Manual and Automatic on various vehicles including small and large commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes is essential.
Desirable:

Previous experience or internships in operations, logistics, or fleet management.

An interest in pursuing a career in fleet management or logistics.

Commitment to work towards a relevant Fleet Operations qualification (e.g., ICFM or similar).
