About the Role
Leeds City College are recruiting for an Apprentice Teacher to join our growing Creative Media and Digital Arts department.
As an Apprentice Teacher, you will gain on the job experience, whilst also working towards completing your Teaching apprenticeship - on completion you will gain a Level 5 Certificate in Education. The course is provided internally through University Centre Leeds.
You will also receive support from our dedicated Teaching, Learning and Assessment team who share their expertise and guidance on best practice to our teaching colleagues at all levels of their career.
As this is an apprenticeship role, it is fixed term for the length of the apprenticeship - 24 months.
Creative Media and Digital Arts is a department of more than 500 learners and 30 members of staff delivering Animation, Esports, Games Design and Development, Journalism, Media and TV & Film, at our state of the art Quarry Hill Campus.
We deliver a varied curriculum of academic and technical skills to students mostly aged 16-19 at levels one, two and three, including T levels and Access to HE. Our highly skilled team of specialist teachers and support staff takes pride in developing our students’ personal and employability skills to prepare them for their future life and work.
We have a strong emphasis on working as a team, offering mutual support and flexibility while striving for the highest standards for our students. Our ultimate goal is to enable our learners to become independent, skilled individuals who excel in the industry specialisms they have chosen.
What You Will Do
We are looking for an apprentice teacher to be part of our dynamic and expanding Digital Arts and media team. As an apprentice you will work as part of this team, learning how to prepare and teach sessions in your subject specialism to students working at levels 1, 2 and 3.
We run courses in Esports, Animation, TV & Film, Journalism and Computer Game Development, which means there are opportunities to develop a wide range of subject specialisms. These include, but are not limited to the following. The ideal candidate will have skills in one or more of these areas.:

Responsibilities will include:

Planning delivery of the subject matter, creating lessons and teaching resources in line with the objectives of the curriculum.

Teaching the principles and practical skills to help our students along the path to their chosen career.

Tracking individual student progress: assessing work and feeding back in a way which helps learners to develop their abilities and understanding.

Working as part of a team to create a nurturing, positive environment for the students.

You will also spend one day a week learning the principles of education, developing your own understanding of how to engage learners and be a better educator. This leads to a Certificate of Education, allowing you to become a qualified teacher.
About You
- Relevant, up to date knowledge of your subject specialism.

Qualified to degree level in Computer Games, Animation or a related discipline.

Qualified to Level 3 in English and maths.

Committed to a two year programme of apprenticeship.

Good timekeeping, punctuality and a reliable nature.

Able to apply restorative practice to your communications with students and colleagues and be a proactive, flexible and supportive member of the team.
