The Role
The University of London is inviting applications for a Tax Assistant Apprentice. As part of an essential support team, you will assist in the delivery of tax compliance across the University and its subsidiaries. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of tax-related tasks and responsibilities, including VAT/GST (UK & Overseas), employment taxes, and Corporation Tax, while working towards a recognised professional qualification.
This is an exciting opportunity to join and support the Tax Team (Head of Tax and Deputy Head of Tax) at the University of London in delivering high-quality tax compliance across the University of London and its subsidiaries. As an apprentice, you will gain practical experience in a broad range of tax matters both UK and all jurisdictions where the University has a tax exposure while working towards the Level 4 Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification, contributing to the effective management of the University's tax obligations.
The successful candidate will undertake structured study with BPP, a recognised training provider, alongside on-the-job learning. The apprenticeship typically lasts 20 months and includes dedicated study time, exam support, and practical experience in a professional tax environment.
Future Prospects:
This position is a fixed-term apprenticeship contract for 22 months. It puts an emphasis on learning in the workplace and testing new skills in a live environment. While successful completion of the apprenticeship may be considered favourably for future permanent opportunities within the organisation, there is no guarantee of a permanent position upon completion of the apprenticeship. By the time you have completed the programme, you will have both the qualifications and experience to pursue a successful career in Taxation.

The University currently operates a Hybrid Working framework involving a mix of working remotely and in the office. Typically, most employees will be able to agree to work remotely for up to 60% of their working week, role dependent, however will need to attend the office on specific days for training or team meetings etc.
