JOB TITLE: Apprentice Aerospace NDT Technician must be over 18 due to working with radiation
Overall Purpose of Role:
Responsible for learning and assisting qualified technician in carrying out in-service and pre-service Non Destructive Testing / Inspections of Aerospace & Industrial components using appropriate techniques, according to the details in the client’s contract, and within Applus UK Ltd.’s operating instructions.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
The Roles and Responsibilities of the Apprentice Aerospace NDT Technician will include but not be limited to:-
- Assist qualified Technicians in carrying out NDT / Inspections in the relevant methods of Aerospace & Industrial components in accordance with company or client instructions utilising appropriate NDT techniques mainly Ultrasonic/bond testing of Aerospace metallic & composite components, but also to include;
- Magnetic Particle Flaw Detection
- Dye Penetrant
- Radiography
- Assist qualified technicians in carrying out inspection of incoming material and equipment before its use.
- To learn and understand all current company, client or legislative requirements affecting NDT techniques and conduct all work in accordance with them.
- To learn and follow all company and site health and safety regulations
- To learn how to keep all NDT equipment in good condition and ensure scheduled checks are carried out
Qualifications and Experiences
Essential:
- We are looking for people who are self-directed, team players who possess excellent problem solving skills.
- You should be practical and well organized with a positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team and on your own initiative.
- You will have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s at Grade C or above including English and Maths.
- There is also a requirement to have good aided or unaided eyesight to satisfy the mandatory NDT eyesight test.
Desirable:
- You would ideally hold a full current driving license or be working to achieve this.
