As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic engineering and manufacturing environment, supporting the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment. Under the guidance of experienced engineers and technicians, you will develop the technical skills necessary to contribute to the efficient production of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist engineers and senior technicians in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of production equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption to the manufacturing process.
- Support the routine inspection and testing of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
- Monitor and adjust machinery settings as needed to maintain production efficiency and quality.
- Support day-to-day operations in the production area by assisting in machine setup, material handling, and workflow optimization.
- Learn to interpret technical drawings.
- Aid in the preparation of materials and tools needed for production runs, ensuring they are available and organized for use.
- Observe and contribute to the continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations in the manufacturing environment, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
- Assist in the implementation of health and safety procedures, including the safe handling of machinery, materials, and tools.
- Maintain proper documentation and report any safety concerns to supervisors promptly.
- Actively participate in on-the-job training sessions and technical courses to further develop your engineering and manufacturing skills.
- Work closely with mentors to gain practical experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and equipment repair.
- Take part in team meetings and collaborative projects aimed at improving production efficiency and equipment performance.

Working Week: Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours per week with 4 days on site and one day attending Chichester College

Things to Consider:
- This is a 39-month apprenticeship and applicants MUST BE free from full time education to be eligible to apply for it and have the minimum qualification level to apply for it
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the UK for a minimum of 3 years prior to the start of learning and have work authorisation for the UK.
- Applicants WILL NOT BE eligible to apply if they have already achieved a qualification which is equal to or higher thank the apprenticeship standard on offer.
- Applicants MUST BE resident in the area local to the apprenticeship opportunity or be prepared to relocate in time to start employment and study.
- Applicants MUST BE committed to the learning and stay to the end of the apprenticeship.
- The start date for this role will be in October 2025.
- Work will be onsite at the company’s premises in Storrington with one day per week at Chichester College.
- Please note that public transport to the company address is limited so make sure you can travel to Storrington and Worthing.

Further Information: Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): The National Minimum Wage for Apprentices is £7.55 per hour (As of the 1st April 2025). This is the legal minimum pay per hour applying to 16 to 18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their apprenticeship. For apprentices 19 or over who have completed their first year and are continuing their apprenticeship, the National Minimum Wage appropriate to their ages applies.
