An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Derby City’s busy Trading Standards Team. This role sits within the Fair Trading & Product Safety Specialism.
Derby is a city with ambition and drive, with a proud history of innovation. We have a strong economy, a diverse population and a great central location.
Like many authorities, our city also faces challenges. We are looking for someone who can join in our team’s enthusiasm and creativity in meeting these challenges. We’re committed to listening to our communities and being responsive, supporting our city to be the best it can be. We are therefore looking for people who are forward thinking, customer focused, have excellent communication skills and are highly motivated to make a difference for both consumers and businesses.
As this is an apprentice role, previous experience is not necessary as this exciting opportunity will see you complete the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship (Tobacco & Vapes legislation), where you will undergo training and be supported to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies required of a Trading Standards professional.
You will need at least a grade 4 GCSE (grade C) in English and Mathematics, be educated to A-Level standard and have a full driving license.
You must behave with integrity, be confident, self-motivated, flexible in your approach and outcome focused.
The main area of work for this role will be the enforcement of legislation governing vapes and tobacco, including the supply of illegal/illicit products and tackling age restricted sales to children but you will also be involved in the full range of Trading Standards duties including investigations, inspections, advising business/consumers and project work.
Further information about the apprenticeship is available online at https://www.csa-uk.com/mpage/l6-trading-standards-tobaccovapes.
If you would like an informal discussion about this post please contact Dominic Johnson, Principal Trading Standards Officer on 01332 641926 or Rhia Dilloway, Principal Trading Standards Officer on 01332 641 986
The apprentice will be studying for the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional Apprenticeship (Tobacco & Vapes legislation) with CSA learning - Level 6 Trading Standards Professional (Tobacco & Vapes legislation) - Credit Services Association
