We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our Property Services team As an Apprentice Chartered Surveyor, you’ll play a part in keeping our schools, offices, and public facilities safe, welcoming, and fit for the future. This apprenticeship is your gateway into a professional career in building surveying. You’ll gain hands-on experience alongside qualified surveyors and engineers, learn how our property services operate, and study towards a recognised qualification — all while earning a salary. From your first day, you’ll be part of a team that manages a diverse range of properties across Derby city. Please note that this apprentice program will be delivered by Nottingham Trent University, it is a 5 year programme.

The Opportunity
In the role of Chartered Surveyor, Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship (Building Surveyor Pathway) BSc (Hons) , here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
- Undertake a 5 year apprenticeship programme facilitated by Nottingham Trent University, having a day release to the university,
- Visit buildings to carry out inspections and check for repairs or improvements needed
- Help record building conditions and keep accurate information in our property database
- Learn how to prepare simple reports, drawings, and cost estimates for work projects
- Support experienced surveyors in planning and managing maintenance and repair jobs
- Work with contractors and other teams to make sure work is done safely and to a high standard
- Understand the rules and safety requirements that apply to building work
About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have…
- The desire commitment and dedication to complete a 5 year apprenticeship to become a Chartered Surveyor.
- three A-levels or equivalent qualifications (A-levels, BTECs, T Levels)
- GCSEs – English and Maths grade C / 4.
