JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking an Apprentice Grounds Person to join our team on a 2-year apprenticeship. This role involves contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of our facilities, at both the Kenilworth Road Stadium and our Training Ground.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities on a day-to-day basis will include:
- Participating in a 2-year apprenticeship program to obtain a Level 2 Sportsturf Operative Standard Apprenticeship qualification.
- Assisting in the maintenance of amenity landscapes.
- Carrying out tractor and trailer work for various tasks.
- Utilizing machinery to renovate grass areas, such as turf cutters, edgers, scarification equipment, seeders, and stone buriers.
- Cutting grass and trimming around ball stopping nets.
- Mowing football pitches and surrounding areas using pedestrian and ride-on equipment.
- Watering plants and other relevant areas with handheld equipment.
- Supporting pitch renovation activities, including tractor and trailer work and sand spreading.
- Assisting with matchday setup and pitch testing.
- Handling deliveries and manually moving bags of sand, soil, fertilizer, and seeds weighing between 20-25kg.
- Maintaining cleanliness in equipment stores and associated washdown areas.

Maintain up to date knowledge of Health & Safety related guidance and processes within your role and in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy.
- Consider the Health & Safety implications of all actions and inaction within your role.
- Support and uphold agreed standards for Health & Safety compliance, including assisting in accident, dangerous occurrence and near miss investigations within your role.
- Follow and adhere to; safe management systems and working practices in line with the Club’s Health & Safety Policy
- Ensure you have been briefed and are confident in using any equipment prior to use and seek guidance from your line manager as required.
- Regularly review risk assessments, safe working, and management systems associated with your role.
- Liaise regularly with the Club’s appointed Health & Safety representatives to support and maintain compliance
- Maintain records of all Health & Safety issues within your role and area of responsibility.
MAIN JOB REQUIREMENTS AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education/Qualifications/Training:
- Willingness to complete a 2-year apprenticeship program, including both academic and practical components, to the required standards.
- Ability to work to high standards and maintain a flexible attitude, particularly with regards to unsocial hours that may be necessary.
- Strong punctuality and time management skills.
- Capacity to receive and act upon instructions.
- Passion for and understanding of sports or sports entertainment.
- Full UK Driving License (Desirable).
Abilities/Skills/Knowledge:
- Must Committed, enthusiastic and passionate about Luton Town Football Club.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as using one’s own initiative.
- Able to communicate effectively with players, parents and fellow staff members at all levels.
- Able to adapt to the demands of the job and needs of the players / coaches.
- Willing to follow and promote the philosophy of the football club.
- Be an ambassador for Luton Town Football Club presenting the club in a positive image at all times.
