Job title: Advanced Apprentice Machinist
Location: Glasgow
Salary: Starting from £18,667 with annual progression through the scheme duration.
What you’ll be doing:
- Reading and interpreting engineering & assembly drawings, tolerances, materials and geometry.
 
- Develop competence in operating manual & CNC machines including lathes & milling machines working within tight tolerances and high level of Quality to produce components and parts to support the installation of equipment on our Type 26 ships.
 - Gain experience in selecting tools, fixtures, jigs and manipulate setting speeds, feeds and calibration of tooling.
 
- Develop ability to program and adjust CNC machines using CAD/CAM software to program specific parts and also adjust existing CNC programs including speeds, tool paths and feed.
 
- Gain additional experience in using Measuring equipment like micrometres, callipers and gauges.
 
- Gain experience in problem solving and process improvement.
 
What Qualification Will You Get?
- Performing Engineering Operations SVQ2
 
- National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering
 
- (Optional Higher National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering)
 
- Level 7 Engineering Diploma Pathway C: Engineering Technical Support
