Trainee IT Technician (1st Line Support)
NJC Scale 3
Full-Time • Fixed-Term Contract (initial period)
We are looking to appoint a Trainee IT Technician to provide 1st Line IT support within the school. This role focuses on assisting with day-to-day ICT issues and helping to ensure the smooth running of the school’s ICT systems, hardware and software.
This position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and keen to learn. Full training will be provided, making this a great opportunity for someone starting their career in IT or looking to progress into an apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1st Line support to staff and students
- Assist with troubleshooting basic hardware, software, and network issues
- Support classroom IT equipment (PCs, laptops, printers, projectors, interactive screens)
- Help with device setup, imaging and routine maintenance
- Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff where needed
Essential Skills / Qualities:
- Interest in IT and technical problem-solving
- Good communication and willingness to learn
- Basic understanding of Windows desktops and laptops
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Some familiarity with Apple devices/macOS
- Any previous experience in a school or customer support environment
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
