Job Purpose:
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Property Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join our team. In this role, you will support our maintenance team in delivering practical repair and upkeep services across residential and commercial properties.
You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in a wide range of maintenance tasks while completing a Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised qualification.
Duties:
- Assist with general maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, and basic electrical repairs.
- Support the team in responding to repair requests and completing scheduled maintenance.
- Use hand and power tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Prepare and maintain work areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
- Carry out planned, responsive or temporary repairs to buildings and their immediate surroundings to make buildings safe and secure for their occupants or clients
- Carry out minor tiling and flooring activities or repairs using a variety of materials, tools, adhesives, and sealants
- Deliver remedial painting and decorating works to a range of surfaces, ensuring the appropriate and safe use of compounds, materials, tools, and access equipment.
- Complete minor plastering/tape and joining repairs/refurbishment using appropriate materials and surface finishing techniques.
- Use Carpentry and Joinery skills to complete minor repairs or refurbishment to fixtures within and around properties, such as doors, windows, frames, worktops, ensuring associated fixtures and
- fittings are selected, installed, or repaired, and working correctly.
- Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, minor repairs, and replacement of building fabric record and report progress and any issues encountered during tasks.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out to the highest standard, in alignment with company values and quality expectations.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients, demonstrating professionalism and a commitment to customer service.
- Attend off-the-job training (e.g., college, technical training provider) as part of your apprenticeship programme.
- Support the company’s goals by carrying out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the line manager.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics, and ICT at Grade C/4 or above.
- Good problem-solving and practical skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic IT skills, including the use of mobile apps or digital documentation
- Good time management skills
- Ability to work on own initiative, but understand level of responsibility within the team

Other Factors:
This role offers the opportunity to undertake a Level 2 Property Operative Apprenticeship, a nationally recognised qualification that combines paid, hands-on work experience with structured learning and assessment.
The apprenticeship typically takes approximately 24 months to complete and is designed to equip apprentices with the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to become competent property maintenance operatives. It includes both on-the-job training and off-the-job study at college, one day a week.
