Role Overview
As an Apprentice Data Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting our data engineering projects and learning on the job. This hands-on role provides the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools in the Microsoft Azure data stack, such as Power BI, Azure Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain valuable skills and contribute to delivering impactful data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the integration, transformation, and preparation of data from various sources.
- Collaborate with the team to create insightful dashboards and reports using Power BI.
- Help maintain and optimize data storage solutions, such as Azure Data Lake and Synapse Analytics.
- Participate in data quality and governance initiatives to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Learn and apply best practices for managing data security and privacy in the cloud.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues with support from senior team members.
- Continuously develop technical skills through training and project work.
What You’ll Learn
- Core concepts of data engineering, including ETL processes and data modelling.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure tools such as Data Factory, Power BI, Synapse, and Data Lake.
- Programming skills in SQL, Python, or similar languages.
- Principles of data governance, security, and compliance.
- Collaboration and communication skills in a professional environment.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this apprenticeship you should not have an existing qualification at the same level or higher than this apprenticeship in a similar subject.
What We’re Looking For
- A keen interest in data engineering and technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.
- Basic understanding of data concepts or experience with tools such as Excel or databases is a plus.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- GCSEs/A-levels (or equivalent), preferably in STEM subjects.
- Eagerness to pursue a Level 3 or Level 4 apprenticeship in Data Engineering or a related field.
