Apprentice Hose Assembly Technician
In this role you will be part of our OEM/Production Team that are assembling hose kits for all our OEM customers around the UK.
No industry experience is necessary for this role as full training will be given and you will learn on the job and via a formal training program. We are looking for someone with a great work ethic, a ‘can do’ attitude, can work to tight deadlines and can always produce accurate work.
An NVQ level 1 qualification in Lean Manufacturing is obtained through the WST Apprenticeship Trainee Program upon successful completion, this will be coupled alongside our internal training program which is managed by our in house mentor and trainer.
Main Duties:
- To operate the Laser Engraving Machine to engrave ferrules prior to assembly.
- To produce hoses to the desired specification and quality standards in place.
- To operate machinery such as swaging machines, hose cutters, shrink wrapping burners, pelleting machines alongside basic power tools.
- Become multi-functional supporting in other departments such as kitting when needed. Kitting is the final stage of the process where by the customers order is picked and sent for delivery.
- To adopt a clean as you go approach to keeping the work areas tidy.
- To actively contribute to the overall team activities and promote good working practices.
- Adhere to company Quality, Health and Safety policies reporting near misses, accidents and incidents as required.
- Engage in continuous improvement thinking identifying improvements to processes.
- Be involved with and support any audits within your department and comply with all internal/external audit resource and certification bodies.
Other Requirements:
- Educational qualifications that demonstrate proficiency in English Language and Maths.
- Previous practical hands on experience in any role useful but not essential.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a wider team.
- The interpersonal skills necessary to develop and sustain effective relationships internally with other members of production team.
- Able to work accurately with detailed information.
- Possesses a high level of resilience and drive, able to be flexible and change direction as required and work well under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrate a positive “can do” approach to work.
- Able to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks and achieve set targets.
Working hours:
07:30am to 17:00pm Monday to Friday plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings 08:30am to 12:30pm.
