We are looking for a full time competition show groom. The role includes all normal yard duties when at home, but also opportunities to attend shows.

On-site accommodation available, opportunity to bring own horse with plenty training available and excellent facilities.

We are looking to take on an Equine Groom or Senior Equine groom who is eager to learn, has a passion for cross country and showjumping with riding opportunities for the right candidate. On site shared accommodation – lovely little cottage on site.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on. There will be plenty of opportunities to travel to shows and competitions both UK and abroad with lots of mentoring and equine professionals visiting the yard.

Yard duties will include:

Turning out and bringing in
Mucking out
Feeding, watering and haying
Grooming
Clipping and trimming
Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
Bandaging
Tacking up
Riding opportunities for the right candidate if they wish

Desired Skills and Personal Qualities

Prior experience with horses is required
Good time keeping
Excellent communication
Willingness to learn
Team player
Initiative

Qualifications

GCSE’s Grade C/4 or higher in English and Maths are desired but not essential
HGV license a bonus, or the opportunity to be put through the test if interested in gaining that qualification.

Future Prospects

Advanced apprenticeship or employment within the business.

Training

Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards a Level 2 Equine Groom or Level 3 Equine Groom Apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and onsite visits throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
