As part of the Data Analyst (Customer Insight)Apprenticeship, you’ll build the foundations of your career by developing your knowledge, skills and behaviours through high-performing, meaningful work whilst working towards an industry-recognised qualification. You’ll contribute to the development and improvement of Nationwide’s processes, propositions and services in your department.
Following the 2-year Apprenticeship journey, you will have well-rounded expertise in analysis, notably in SAS and SQL programming languages, and a deep understanding of Nationwide’s customers.
We’ll need you to build rewarding relationships across the organisation and externally to understand customer needs, resolve problems and support the delivery of the Society blueprint. You’ll attend webinars, technical training, and be supported by an apprenticeship skills coach alongside your line manager and team to achieve your best.
The team you will be joining is Customer Strategy, Insights & Propositions, within our Customer, Brand & Engagement function. Our Customer, Brand & Engagement function’s role is understanding customers and engagement opportunities by segment, together with building compelling experiences and communications that are personalised at an individual level, which will deliver a quantum shift as we transform to become a modern mutual.
The Customer Strategy, Insights & Propositions team’s purpose is to develop rich customer insight to drive the segmented customer strategy, and design and deliver compelling propositions to support all Nationwide’s customers. The team use analytics to identify customer-focused opportunities, and use segmentation tools to develop a more in-depth understanding of all Nationwide customers and the UK population.

What you’ll be doing
On the Data Analyst (Customer Insight)Apprenticeship, you’ll develop towards the role of an Analyst over a 2-year period gaining the knowledge, skills and network our Customer, Brand & Engagement function requires.
The Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship is delivered in partnership with QA, and will give you the skills to clean, analyse and model data, primarily learning the programming languages SAS and SQL. You will learn how to identify key insights, visualise these, and tell data stories to non-specialists. This programme lays the foundation for apprentices to become high-performing analysts and data science professionals.

Entry requirements:
In order to be eligible to apply for this role you must meet the following criteria:
- Have right to work in the UK – if non-British, your current visa or immigration status must cover the duration of the apprenticeship which could span at least 26 months.
- Have been living in the UK or EEA countries for the last 3 years
- Not be enrolled in another apprenticeship or other government funded programme
- If you are under the age of 19, you will need to have two GCSE’s at A-C/grade 9-4 (or equivalent) in Maths and English Language
- Working in England 50%+ of the time is a requirement of the role
As per recent government announcement all apprentices, who were aged 19 and over at the start of their apprenticeship training (October 2025), will no longer be required to hold or achieve English and maths qualifications to pass their apprenticeship.
- Apprentices who are aged 16 to 18 at the start of their training (October 2025), will still be required to achieve English and Maths qualifications to support their career progression.
