Job Overview: As a Hospitality Apprentice, you will work closely with our front-of-house and kitchen teams to learn the essential skills required for a successful career in hospitality. This apprenticeship program will provide hands-on experience in various aspects of restaurant operations, including customer service, restaurant management, and culinary processes. You will have the opportunity to work in a vibrant and supportive environment, gaining the expertise needed to excel in the hospitality field.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of meals and ingredients, including chopping, slicing, and dicing vegetables and proteins.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all areas are tidy and hygienic.
- Follow food safety guidelines to ensure the highest standards of hygiene are met.
- Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as required.
- Support cooks during service by preparing garnishes, sauces, and other accompaniments.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages.
- Assist the front-of-house team in providing excellent customer service, ensuring that guests have an unforgettable dining experience.
- Learn how to handle customer inquiries, take reservations, and manage guest expectations.
- Support the kitchen staff in food preparation and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
- Develop an understanding of food and beverage offerings, including menu knowledge and pairing recommendations.
- Gain experience in restaurant operations, including setting up for service, clearing tables, and assisting with daily operations.
- Work alongside experienced team members to develop your skills in managing and leading shifts.
- Maintain a positive attitude, showing initiative and enthusiasm for the role.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable.
- A keen interest in culinary arts and meal preparation.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques within the kitchen.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.
