An opportunity to join our team as an Apprentice
- We are a small, specialised law firm which can be quiet and focused but also very busy due to court deadlines and client demands, client enquiries and phone calls. The apprentice would be sat in our reception area with our legal secretary who will be responsible for much of the training. The apprentice needs to be able to work to tight deadlines and at times under pressure.
Future Prospectsl
- Yes there is the potential for a full time position to be available at the end of the apprenticeship salary to be decided closer to the time but will be in line with market rates for the position.
The Law Practice
- We provide legal services in Family Law to our clients to include advice for Divorce proceedings, financial matters, Children issues and cohabitation disputes.
- We are a small high street practice with two solicitors carrying out the above work supported by our secretary and finance assistant.
Your role
Are you ready for the challenge of working in Family Law where no two days are the same.
- To provide support to our busy practice.
- Knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, adobe acrobat, outlook.
- Good and accurate typing speed.
- Audio and copy typing as you will be expected to prepare letters and court documents including court bundles
- Filing accurately in date and time order
- Scanning and copying
- Ability to time record for fee earner and assist with the preparation of billing,
- Assisting fee earners with preparing key documents for Hearings
- Preparing cost schedules,
- Answering the telephone,
- Liaising with our clients
- Managing diaries to include making appointments
- Archiving old files
- Good telephone manner and communication skills
- Be able to work as part of a team.
Desired skills
- Due to the Apprenticeship criteria candidates with LLB would not be eligible for this position
- Local viable commute essential
- 4-9 grades English and maths GCSE's
- Confident with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage reception in conjunction with other administration duties
- Good attention to detail
- Good working knowledge of ICT packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to demonstrate or gain a clear understanding of the firm’s in-house systems where training will be given
- Excellent presentation, organisation and timekeeping skills
- Awareness of confidentiality and safeguarding
- The ability to use own initiative, be able to work individually as well as part of a team
- Must be well-presented with a clear, pleasant telephone manner
- Good organisational skills
- Good client care skills

Training to be provided
- You will complete the Paralegal Apprenticeship
- This Apprenticeship will involve off the job training.
- You will also develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- You need to have an employer to support your Apprenticeship and be employed in a relevant job role.
- The typical length of this Apprenticeship course is 18 months.
- This course has multiple start dates throughout the year
