Learning Support Assistant - Apprentice
Salary: National Minimum Wage – Apprentice £7.55 per hour

Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, 32.5 hours term time + insets
Harlowbury Primary School are looking for an apprentice Learning Support Assistant to join our EFYS successful team in Autumn 2025. Applicants must be enthusiastic and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Learning Support Assistants (LSA) would work alongside, and individually from class teachers.
Job role:
You will be working alongside class teachers and will work in a variety of roles, including supporting an allocated child, a group of children, or across a whole class group.
The successful candidate will be able to provide academic, emotional, and social support to enable the children to achieve their best.
Duties include:
Supporting Learning:
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and activities.
- Provide one-on-one, small group or classroom support to pupils, helping them to engage with the EYFS curriculum and develop their skills.
- Facilitate the inclusion of all pupils in classroom activities, ensuring that they feel valued and supported.
- Supporting children with their physical care routines, e.g. nappy changing, toilet training, snack and meal times, etc.
- Supporting with cover lunch duty shifts daily
Behaviour Management:
- Help maintain a positive and productive classroom environment by promoting good behaviour
- Implement strategies to support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviours effectively.
Communication:
- Foster open communication with pupils, parents/carers, and staff to support pupil learning, progress and wellbeing.
- Prepare and maintain educational resources and materials for lessons.
Monitoring Progress:
- Assist in assessing and recording pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teacher on individual and group performance.
- Supporting with regular observations towards their Early Learning Goals (EYFS Framework)
- Support the implementation of individual learning plans for pupils with additional needs.
Professional Development:
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practises and contribute to the development of the EYFS curriculum.
