Join Herts Disability Sports Foundation to complete your apprenticeship and your love of everything about bicycles can be your career. You’ll learn alongside our qualified bike mechanics in our workshops with tuition from Activate Learning. This unique opportunity will also see you working as an Assistant Instructor; supporting the delivery of a wide range of HDSF physical activity sessions – gaining a wide range of skills to support your future employment.
Hours: 30 hours per week
Salary: National Minimum Wage for Apprentices – currently £7.55 in the first year
Training course: Bicycle Mechanic Level 2 (Cytech Level 3 qualification)
Duration: 18 months
Start Date: As soon as possible
The tuition you receive from Activate Learning will be supported by your work with HDSF; learning and practicing new mechanical skills in the bike workshops, supported by qualified bicycle mechanics and other team members. The bike workshops are based in Baldock, Herts but we also work out of a base in Welwyn Garden City. You will also support the HDSF team to deliver a wide range of physical activity sessions including boxercise, bellboating, cycling and outdoor fitness sessions. You’ll be provided with any formal training necessary for these sessions and supported by all members of the team to develop your skills.
We’re looking for a candidate who;
- has a real passion for bicycle maintenance and already has some knowledge
- is aged 18 or over,
- is able to arrange their own travel to Baldock and Welwyn,
- is willing to commit to the apprenticeship and do their best to successfully complete
the training,
- wants to work with a team of dedicated individuals who are committed to the
charitable aims of HDSF and keen to build a supportive and fun team!
