Are you creative, full of ideas, and looking to kickstart your career in communications? We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Apprentice to join our Performance Team in Portsmouth, P06 1TA on a 24 month FTC.
You’ll play a key role in helping us keep local communities, businesses, and schools informed about our work on the Portsmouth Highways PFI contract – from road improvements to social value events. As a part of the Apprenticeship you will complete a Level 3 in Marketing Assistant. So you learn and train whilst on the job.
As our Communications Apprentice, you’ll support the team in keeping local communities and businesses informed about our work on the Portsmouth Highways contract. You’ll help create clear and engaging communications such as leaflets, posters, social media posts, and newsletters. You'll also visit schools and businesses near our worksites to share information and answer questions. Your role will involve planning and scheduling social media content, capturing photos of our projects and events, and gathering feedback from the public through customer satisfaction surveys. You’ll be involved in creating a monthly internal newsletter for our site teams and building a library of visual content, all while developing your skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.
Our ideal apprentice for this role will have an A-C in English and Maths. We’re looking for someone who has a passion for marketing and communications so it is essential you have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, who’s confident speaking with a range of people, including the public and our teams on site. You should be creative, organised, and have a keen eye for detail, especially when producing written content or managing social media. A good level of computer literacy is important, particularly with Microsoft Office tools like Excel. If you’re positive, proactive, and keen to bring fresh ideas to the table – whether it’s for social media content, community engagement, or team updates – this could be a great fit for you. Most importantly, we’re after someone who’s eager to learn, professional in their approach, and ready to make the most of this opportunity.
