Many East West Connect (EWC) staff will from time to time carry out different or additional roles in order to maintain the flexibility and needs of EWC business or the needs of particular clients, consultants and projects.
We operate a comprehensive Integrated Management System or IMS which enables us to achieve external accreditation on ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001. Our job descriptions are used in conjunction with the over-arching HSE-PR-14 - Health & Safety Roles and Responsibilities document, which adds more detail to explain our expectations.
SCOPE
As an apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience across our maintenance and project teams, providing you with broad exposure to real-life systems and working practices. The apprentice will rotate through various disciplines, including: • Mechanical systems – fan coil units, heating, pumps, and ventilation systems • Electrical systems – lighting, distribution boards, basic controls and testing Director Head of Maintenance Customer Relationship Manager ( Apprentice Coordinator) Apprentice-Building Services Contracts Manager HR-FM-24 Page 2 of 2 Revision 00 • Fire & Security systems – fire alarms, smoke control systems, access control and intruder alarms.
KNOWLEDGE
Good verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
Ability to apply basic problem-solving skills to a variety of situations.
Ability to develop good level of understanding of all maintenance disciplines.
Commit to complete Level 3 Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering Maintenance(E)
A minimum of GCSE Grade 4/C in Maths and English (or equivalent)(E)
A genuine interest in mechanical, electrical, and fire & security systems(E)
SKILLS
Positive team player with the ability to work effectively with others.

Willingness to ask questions.
Willingness to visit other sites and projects and spend time away from home.

OTHER
The ability to travel to a range of sites.
Appreciation that there might be out of hours working, agreed in advance.
DUTIES
Undertake NVQ training to relevant skills level.
Attend college in accordance with training regime.
Submit portfolio to the College to support NVQ submission.
To undertake site based training to allow development.
To undertake activities as instructed by the supervision technician, mentor or management team.
To support members of the operational team in undertaking their works as required. Work as part of the Apprentices scheme to develop self and others.
Regularly communicate with site mentor and sponsoring manager.
Be aware of the Environmental, Health & Safety and Business Continuity Plan for the part of the business you work in.
To be a structured apprenticeship with day-release learning through an approved training provider.
