About the Role
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Level 3 Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprentice. This apprenticeship is designed for individuals who want to play a vital role in the transition to sustainable energy. You will gain hands-on experience working across domestic, commercial, and industrial sites, learning how to install, commission, service, and maintain zero carbon heating and hot water systems.
These systems may include air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps, solar thermal collectors, unvented hot water systems, pipework, and associated mechanical/electrical control systems. Work will take place on both new-build developments and existing properties.
What You’ll Learn
Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviours required to become a qualified Low Carbon Heating Technician. This includes:
- Understanding and applying health & safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and safe working practices.
- Gaining knowledge of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, recycling, and the responsible management of emissions and waste.
- Learning common installation practices for low carbon heating and hot water systems.
- Understanding the scientific and mechanical principles behind systems such as heat pumps and solar thermal (including coefficient of performance and seasonal performance factor).
- Building awareness of industry roles, responsibilities, and working collaboratively with related trades.
- Applying sustainability principles in day-to-day work and operating to industry standards.
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine interest in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.
- Completed qualification in either plumbing or electrical and or equivalent experience.
- A full drivers license / own vehicle
- Strong practical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.
- Willingness to learn both on-site and through structured training.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to safe working practices.
