The Role
We are seeking a proactive and analytical Cyber Security Technician Apprentice to join our expanding IT and security team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop their career in cyber security within a fast-paced and evolving environment. Working alongside experienced cyber security and IT professionals, you will play a key role in supporting a wide range of security activities designed to protect our systems, data, and users from evolving cyber threats.

Apprenticeship Standard:
Cyber Security Technician – Level 3 Standard

Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Monitoring & Incident Response

Assist in monitoring security alerts and identifying potential threats or suspicious activity.
Support the investigation of security incidents under the guidance of senior team members.
Help maintain incident response documentation and contribute to post-incident reviews.

Vulnerability Management

Support regular vulnerability scans across systems and networks.
Assist in assessing risks and prioritising remediation activities.
Work with IT teams to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely manner.

Access Control & User Support

Help manage user accounts, permissions, and authentication processes.
Support the enforcement of security policies, including password and access management.
Provide basic cyber security advice to staff, promoting safe and secure working practices.

System & Network Security

Assist with maintaining the security of devices, networks, and software.
Support patching, configuration, and system updates to ensure compliance with security standards.
Contribute to maintaining asset inventories and ensuring devices meet security requirements.

Security Awareness & Training

Assist in the delivery of cyber awareness initiatives across the organisation.
Help create or prepare content that promotes secure behaviours among staff.
Monitor participation in training programmes and support improvements to engagement.

Documentation & Compliance

Help maintain accurate records of security processes, incidents, and system configurations.
Support audits and compliance activities relating to industry standards and internal policies.
Stay informed about emerging cyber security threats, tools, and best practices.

About You

Enthusiastic about cyber security and eager to develop your technical skills.
Strong attention to detail with a logical and analytical mindset.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable using IT systems, digital tools, and learning new technologies.
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
