The Role
We are looking for an Apprentice Data Engineer to join our Business Systems and IT team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience while completing a structured apprenticeship leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
You will work alongside experienced data professionals, learning how to design, develop and maintain data systems that drive insights across the business.
What You Will Learn and Do
- Build and maintain data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, dbt or Azure Data Factory
- Ingest, transform and load data from APIs, databases and files
- Support the setup and optimisation of data warehouses and lakes (Snowflake, BigQuery, Azure Synapse)
- Learn to manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Monitor data quality and understand governance best practices
- Collaborate with analysts, scientists and stakeholders to meet data needs
- Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to team projects
- Complete coursework and attend internal training sessions
What We Are Looking For
- A strong interest in data, analytics and technology
- Basic understanding of programming (Python, SQL or similar)
- Good problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- GCSEs in Maths and English; A levels or Level 3 STEM qualifications are a plus
