We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our team as an Multi Skilled Engineering Technician Apprentice at our location in Beccles, Suffolk.
Overview:
As the Multi Skilled Engineering Technician Apprentice, you will learn and develop whilst working at PCE Automation, gaining a broad range of skills to become an Engineering Technician in mechanical and electrical engineering.
Responsibilities:
The following list is an indication of the responsibilities that the Multi Skilled Engineering Technician Apprentice is expected to undertake. The list is not exhaustive and is intended as guidance only.
- Mechanical fitting and assembly
- Electrical Assembly including Panel building.
- Machinery alignment and commissioning for factory acceptance tests
- Machinery installation and commissioning at customer’s site
- Design in-line with UK/EC/International standards and legislation.
- 2D and 3D CAD to produce designs, drawings and models.
- Analyse issues to resolve issues, for example stresses, using tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)Prototyping
- Drive forward product development, innovation and ‘think outside the box’ to generate engineering advantage for customers, thinking creatively to develop new/improved solutions.
- Identify and implement design improvements (functionality, cost, design for manufacture)
- Learn PLC and HMI programming using a wide range of hardware such as Mitsubishi, B&R, Festo and Allen Bradley.
- Modifying systems through electrical, mechanical or software to enhance performance.
- Perform testing of electrical and pneumatic control circuits.
The post holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the job description. The duties and responsibilities attached to the post may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed.
During the first three years you will complete a Level 4 (HNC/D) Higher Level Certificate/Diploma in General Engineering. There are potential progression opportunities to complete a degree program.
All non-college days will be spent at PCE Automation. You may occasionally be asked to attend client sites to support with the installation and commissioning of automated systems as well as the PCE Automation site.
The apprenticeship has the potential to progress to a permanent position and to full multi skilled status after consolidation period.
