Job Outline: Waste Services Apprentice
Salary: Minimum of National Living Wage
Working Hours: 39 Hours [Monday – Friday]
Location: Blackpool – Layton Depot, Plymouth Road, FY3 7HW

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join an innovative and busy team supporting different areas of the company. The position is to provide assistance, both secretarial and administrative, to a team of service areas. The service areas include commercial waste, domestic waste, street cleansing, grounds maintenance, building cleaning, household waste recycling centre and central vehicle maintenance unit.
About the role
This is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years. A modern apprenticeship is a work-based training programme that leads to an approved qualification. Training is mostly on-the-job, which means Modern Apprentices learn the right mix of skills, knowledge, and abilities. It is intended that the successful candidate would achieve NVQ Business and Administration Level 2 within the two-year period and would be well prepared to look for further employment opportunities.
Your priorities will include
- Ensuring the service is a welcoming environment and provides an excellent service
- Acting as the main point of contact for any initial standard enquiries from staff, customers, and visitors (including by email, Microsoft Teams, phone, and in-person)
- Providing clerical support to administrative staff including maintaining customer files, entering data collected, scanning documents, responding to email, and dealing with a high call demand
